Greeting, members! # System Maintenance This is a notification to inform you of scheduled maintenance of **ALL** CSC general-use servers and services to facilitate hardware upgrade for CSC's storage cluster. ## When? Thu Oct 16 8:00 PM until Sun Oct 19 8:00 PM It's likely that the switchover will conclude sooner than Oct 19, but since this is one of the largest infrastructure upgrades we've done in the past decade we want to be safe with our estimation. We will provide service recovery notice via Email and Discord announcements if the upgrade went smoothly and partial services (like our beloved HFCS) are restored. ## Why? All CSC systems will be taken offline to allow us to switch home directory hosting to our new filer (generation 3 at this point!). All CSC systems (including mails, general-use servers and web hosting) will be unavailble for the duration of our maintenance window. Make sure to save your work, and plan ahead to use a different machine during that time. # General Updates ## Matrix Server We now run our own Matrix Server! The homeserver is csclub.uwaterloo.ca, your watiam is your username, and the CSC Space should be public. ## Events Projects Program will be running on October 28th from 7 to 9pm during the series of events you can gain hands on experience working with a team on a project together, and potentially compete for a prize at the end of it! Hello everyone, The Computer Science Club will be holding elections for the Fall 2025 term on Thursday, September 11th at 5:30pm in DC 1302 and on the CSC Discord (csclub.ca/discord). The President, Vice-President, Assistant Vice-President, and Treasurer are to be elected, if you wish to nominate someone you may: - send an email to cro(a)csclub.uwaterloo.ca - present your nomination in-person to the CRO, Ohm Patel - write your nomination on the whiteboard in the CSC office (MC 3036/3037) Nominations will close on Wednesday, September 10th at 10:00 AM. Presidential Resignation, and Fall 2025 CRO Appointment

Hello everyone, About a week ago on July 24th our President, Dundee Zhang stepped down from their role as Club President. We sincerely thank Dundee for their leadership, dedication, and for the overal positive impact they've made during their time with us. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors. Seeing as it's the end of the term, we decided to not run another election, and I'll be stepping in as Acting President for the rest of this term. Downtime notification + Events

Hello all, Today (June 20th) mirror.csclub.uwaterloo.ca will be down from 12:30pm-3:30pm. Also Sorbitol has been taken out of general-use. Hello, The Computer Science Club will be holding elections for the Spring 2025 term in-person and virtually on Thursday, May 15th, 2025, at 7:00PM EDT (UTC-4). The location of the in-person event will be DC 1350. Virtual attendees can join the Stage Channel on our Discord server (csclub.ca/discord<https://csclub.ca/discord>). The President, Vice-President, Assistant Vice-President, and Treasurer will be elected whilst the Systems Administrator will be appointed by the new executives and ratified by vote at the election. If you wish to nominate yourself or anyone else for any of these positions, please do so via one of the following methods: 1. Hello All, This is a notification to inform you of unscheduled downtime for the CSC Cloud (https://cloud.csclub.uwaterloo.ca) due to hardware failure. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we work to resolve this issue. Downtime Details: Duration: Until the beginning of the Spring term Affected Services: - CSC Cloud VMs (not accessible) - Cloudstack panel (not accessible / inoperable) Additional Information: Users who have recently activated their account or created VMs may encounter login issues or be unable to access the Cloudstack panel, even if it becomes temporarily available.
