Hello everyone, The Computer Science Club will be holding elections for the Spring 2024 term in person on Monday, May 13th, at 7:00PM ET in MC 2034. The President, Vice-President, Assistant Vice-President, and Treasurer will be elected, and the System Administrator will be appointed. If you'd like to run for any of these positions or nominate someone, you can: send an email to cro(a)csclub.uwaterloo.ca<mailto:cro@csclub.uwaterloo.ca>; present your nomination in person to the CRO, Saurin Patel; or write your nomination on the whiteboard in the CSC office (MC 3036/3037). CSC machine downtime on August 31

Hello everyone, On Thursday August 31, between 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM EST, we will be upgrading corn-syrup and caffeine to Debian 12. This will require a reboot so these machines will be offline for a few minutes. To avoid disruption, please use a different machine during that time. CSC Machine downtime - Tomorrow

Hi all, All CSC general-use machines will be down from 7am to 4pm ET *tomorrow*, Sunday July 30th. We will try to keep CSC mail services (webmail, IMAP, SMTP) and mirror up/unaffected, but we can't guarantee anything. [Action required] Your CSC password may be compromised

Hi, If you reused the same password for your Nexus/WatIAM/Quest/UWaterloo email account for your CSC account, please CHANGE YOUR CSC PASSWORD NOW. As you know, the University's Nexus/WatIAM passwords have been compromised. Although CSC accounts were not directly affected, if you reused any password for your CSC password, then it is now also compromised, and requires a password change. Sunsetting ZNC

Hi all, Syscom is sunsetting ZNC in *one week* due to it no longer being maintained (the last commits were in 2020) and using JQuery v1, which is also no longer being maintained. znc.csclub.uwaterloo.ca will be taken down around November 7th, 2022. If you would like IRC message persistence, you can: - Use chat.csclub.uwaterloo.ca - Spawn a tmux/screen session on a general-use machine and use your preferred commandline IRC client in that session. Additionally, we would like to gauge interest in hosting a CSC Matrix server.
