Hello, The election vote will be held on Monday, January 13th at 7:00 PM EST (UTC-5:00) instead of the previously stated time. The in-person location is still to be determined and will be announced in another email when we have confirmed the booking and the virtual voting will be done via Discord as mentioned prior. Accordingly, the nomination deadline is also now moved to Friday, January 10th at 7:00 PM EST (UTC-5:00) and you have until Saturday, January 11th at 7:00 PM EST (UTC-5:00) to request an absentee ballot. CSC Winter 2025 Election Notice

Hello, The Computer Science Club will be holding elections for the Winter 2025 term in-person and virtually on Friday, January 10th, 2024 at 7:00PM EST (UTC-5). The location of the in-person event will be announced once we have confirmed the room booking and virtual attendees can join the Stage Channel on our Discord server (csclub.ca/discord<https://csclub.ca/discord>). The President, Vice-President, Assistant Vice-President, and Treasurer will be elected. The Systems Administrator will be appointed by the new executives and ratified by vote at the election. If you wish to nominate yourself or anyone else for any of these positions, please do so via one of the following methods: 1. Send an email to cro(a)csclub.uwaterloo.ca<mailto:cro@csclub.uwaterloo.ca>, 2. Present your nomination in-person to the CRO (Iris Liao), or 3. Write your name on the whiteboard in the CSC office (MC 3036/3037). Nominations will close on Wednesday, January 8th, 2024, at 7:00PM EST (UTC-5). The CRO will reach out to nominees for their platform. If you are unable to attend the elections live (in-person or virtually), you may email cro(a)csclub.uwaterloo.ca<mailto:cro@csclub.uwaterloo.ca> by Thursday, January 9th, 2024 at 7:00PM EST (UTC-5) to request an absentee ballot. In-person voting will be done via anonymous ballot and virtual voting (both through virtual attendance and absentee ballots) will be done via form submission only identifiable by the CRO to ensure validity of votes. You must be a CSC member for the Winter 2025 term in order to run for a position or vote in the election. Hello all, This is a notification to inform you of scheduled downtime for all CSC services due to a planned power outage in MC (https://plantops.uwaterloo.ca/service-interruptions/notice.php?ID=2433) Downtime Details: Date: Sunday, December 22nd Time: 7:00am - 4:00pm (EST/UTC-5) Affected Services: - Web hosting (all personal and club websites) - Email (@csclub.uwaterloo.ca email addresses) - Servers and Office Terminals - CSC Mirror & Cloud - Any other services hosted by CSC There may also be intermittent disruptions to CSC Cloud, Corn-Syrup, and other systems on Friday, December 20th in preparation for the power outage. CSC Constitution Amendment Proposal

Hello CSC Members, We, the CSC Executives, are initiating a constitutional amendment to improve our Systems Committee (syscom) and Terminal Committee (termcom) processes and definitions, as well as to update a bit of wording. These changes intend to address some operational issues with syscom and termcom, specifically the former having many alumni and not having a clear path for students to become involved, and the latter not representing a fulfilling role nor meeting its intended "syscom-in-training" purpose. You can find the live revision of the amendment on the CSC Git here: https://csclub.ca/amendments. As per Section 10 (Amendments and Procedures) of the CSC Constitution, there will be 28 days of discussion before announcing the finalized version to go to the voting phase, which will occur in-person at our Beginning of Term event. CSC October Election & General Meeting

Hello everyone, As of September 28th, 2024, Nathan Chung, our previous Systems Administrator, has resigned from his position, effective September 29th, 2024. In the absence of the Systems Administrator, as per the constitution, their duties are to be carried out by the Systems Committee, until a new Systems Administrator is available. With the vacancy of this position, the Executive have called for an election and general meeting to appoint and ratify a new Systems Administrator. Per the constitution, the Executive will select a member of the club to be a Systems Administrator, and members at the election will then vote to ratify the candidate. Additionally, after the election, a general meeting will occur which will contain updates from the organizing committee, with an opportunity to ask any questions you may have for us. The election and general meeting will be on Tuesday, October 8th, 2024 at 7:00PM EDT (UTC-4), both virtually, in the Stage Channel on our Discord server, and in-person in STC 0010. Sunsetting of Sorbitol and Mannitol

Hello everyone, We are writing to inform you about the upcoming sunsetting of two of our general-use servers, Sorbitol and Mannitol. Effective September 17, 2024, these servers will no longer be available for use by general members. If you have any services or applications running on these servers, we kindly ask that you migrate them to alternative servers before the specified date. Please note that any remaining services on Sorbitol and Mannitol after this date will be terminated. After the transition, both Sorbitol and Mannitol will continue to operate as part of CSC cloud. However, both will return to be general-use servers sometime in the future. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this process.
