SIGBOVIK:
The Association for Computational Heresy and CMU excited to announce that this year’s SIGBOVIK will take place on April 4th, 2025, at 5PM EDT in Rashid Auditorium. This annual multidisciplinary conference focuses on unconventional academic research, covering
topics such as Anomaly Detection, Agnostic Active Learning, and Generalized Belief.

QNX Industry Talk: Join us on March 27th for an industry talk featuring professionals from BlackBerry QNX. They’ll be sharing insights into their projects and experiences in the field.
Alt-Tab: Alt-Tab is our very own tech talk series presented by students! It consists of several 15-minute talks about a variety of topics related to computer science and technology. It is scheduled to be hosted on the 28th of March. Sign-ups are open
till March 21st!!! Sharpen your presentation skills and share your enthusiasm while having a blast. Looking forward to seeing you there.
Recent Events Recap:
CSC Trivia: CSC hosted a fun-filled night of questions, friends, and prizes! With more than 50 attendees, the event ran for 3 hours, featuring challenging trivia, plenty of snacks, and lots of fun. Thanks to everyone who joined!
Professor Talk: Professor Mohammed Serry delivered an engaging talk on Control Theory, sparking great discussions among attendees. With more than 40 participants, the event provided valuable insights into the field, leaving many inspired. A big thank
you to Professor Serry and everyone who joined!
Professor Talk: Professor Christopher Batty shared insights into fluid simulations in graphics, showing us stunning visuals and videos. Around 60 people attended, and some even joined him and his grad students for dinner afterward. Several attendees
left with a newfound interest in fluid simulation. A huge thanks to Professor Christopher Batty and everyone who joined!
Professor Talk: Professor Toshiya Hachisuka, who taught CS 370 (Numerical Computation), and CS 488 (Computer Graphics) and will teach an introductory course on Computer Graphics and GPUs in Fall 2025 delivered through CS 398, gave a talk on key concepts
in Computer Graphics on the March 20th. We got over 30 participants, and several attendees left with an interest in Computer Graphics. An enormous thanks to Professor Toshiya Hachisuka and everyone who joined!
Projects Program: The Projects Program kicked off with 40+ students coming together to collaborate, gain hands-on experience, and work on exciting projects! Participants had the opportunity to connect with mentors, form teams, and start developing their
ideas. We also held the first code party for the projects program on March 13th and brought together 25+ students who worked on projects, solved problems, and had a great time overall! With a strong turnout and plenty of enthusiasm, the event set the stage
for an exciting term of innovation and learning. Looking forward to seeing the amazing projects that come out of it!
