Election Update:

The Computer Science Club held its elections for the Spring 2025 term and a Minecraft Lan party in-person and virtually on Thursday, May 15th, 2025, at 7:00PM EDT (UTC-4). The new President, Vice-President, Assistant Vice-President, Treasurer and Systems Administrator are as follows:

Infrastructure Update:

Cloud account activation is currently unavailable, please email syscom@csclub.uwaterloo.ca to request an account manually. The Kubernetes cluster is temporarily down but is expected to be restored soon. Recent patches have been applied and incremental progress is ongoing. Approved servers are pending fund transfers, and an additional set of servers is under review. We appreciate your patience as we work to improve and expand our infrastructure.

Trivia Night: Join us for a fun night of Trivia on June 18th! Test your knowledge on a variety of topics, from classic computer science puzzles to pop culture and everything in between. 

Professor Talk: Join us on June 23rd, 2025 for a Professor Talk with Professor Tavian Barnes, who will be exploring the topic of Measuring and Improving Software Performance. In this session, Professor Barnes will delve into practical techniques, tools, and methodologies for evaluating and optimizing software efficiency, a crucial skill for developers and systems designers alike. Whether you're interested in systems programming, performance tuning, or just writing faster code, this talk is not to be missed. We hope to see you there!

Code Olympics: We are bringing together students of all skill levels on July 4th for a series of fun and challenging coding problems. Participants compete individually or in teams to solve algorithmic puzzles, debug tricky code, and demonstrate their problem solving skills under time pressure.

Leetcode Competition: The CS Club will be hosting a Leetcode competition on July 9th, offering students the chance to challenge themselves with a set of timed algorithmic problems. Whether you're preparing for technical interviews or just enjoy competitive coding, this event is a great opportunity to sharpen your skills, learn new techniques, and connect with fellow problem solvers. Questions will range from beginner to advanced, and prizes will be awarded to the top performers. All skill levels are welcome!


Past Events:

Minecraft Lan + Election event: We recently held our elections along side a Minecraft LAN event and saw a record number of votes over a summer term! Participants got to vote for the future of CSC, eat tasty food and also had a lot of fun playing some Minecraft.

BOT: Our recent Beginning of term event was a MASSIVE hit!!! We got over 50 people in attendance. We held a spicy noodles challenge, paper airplane building contest and much much more! Thank you to everyone who joined and made it a success.

Professor Talk: We hosted a Professor Talk with Professor Freda Shi exploring Linguistics in AI Systems on June 10th 2025. The talk delved into how linguistic theory can inform the design and understanding of AI systems, highlighting both the challenges and opportunities in bridging human language and machine learning. Thanks to everyone who attended the event !
