Hi all, The Computer Science Club will be hosting its first event, Code Party 0, next Thursday, January 25. Although the room booking has not been finalized yet, the event is expected to start at 6:00 PM and run until around 11:00 PM. Code Party is an event where you can come and socialize with other members and work on any project you want, including schoolwork and side projects. There will be food. Expect a future email that will pin down the location and time. In addition to the party, we will be holding another general meeting for special elections and amendments to our constitution. At the special elections, we will be electing a Secretary. Nominations will close Wednesday, January 24 at 6:00 PM. You can submit nominations to cro@csclub.uwaterloo.ca <mailto:cro@csclub.uwaterloo.ca>, or in-person to Patrick Melanson, our President. Currently, only Arshia Mufti (a2mufti) has been nominated for the position. Our constitutional amendments are minor and mainly serve to clarify what should have always been the case. In short, the changes are: During each election, if the position has no listed nominees, the CRO will take nominations from the floor. Any present, eligible member can be nominated. Restrict the count of quorum to full members, ie. MathSoc social members. Update the Code of Conduct to refer to relevant UWaterloo policies where appropriate. This is only an overview of the changes. The officially proposed changes can be found at the following links. https://csclub.uwaterloo.ca/~pj2melan/csc/about/constitution-amendments <https://csclub.uwaterloo.ca/~pj2melan/csc/about/constitution-amendments> https://csclub.uwaterloo.ca/~pj2melan/csc/about/code-of-conduct-amendments <https://csclub.uwaterloo.ca/~pj2melan/csc/about/code-of-conduct-amendments> We will be discussing and potentially amending these changes at the meeting. Also feel free to bring up any comments to exec@csclub.uwaterloo.ca <mailto:exec@csclub.uwaterloo.ca>. Finally, at some point during the event we will have a brief presentation from Dr. Andrew Morton on the new CS Project Course. Hope to see you there, Charlie Wang Vice President Computer Science Club University of Waterloo
