Recently we have been observing a very large number of ECC errors on aspartame's RAM. This is causing numerous stability and performance issues with respect to user authentication and network file systems. We are scheduling emergency downtime on this machine to replace the faulty memory module(s) before the problem becomes uncorrectable.
Maintenance will take place on Friday, May 29, 2015. Due to the critical nature of this server, as a precaution we are scheduling downtime for the entire day to ensure that the upgrade is completed correctly.
Files on /users (including home directories and web content) will be unavailable during the maintenance. In addition, it will not be possible to log in to CSC machines until some time after the repairs are completed.
